ERA I — EROS SYNDROME

“She is gifted with divine power and purpose. She thirsts for higher meaning, even if it’s at the cost of others or herself.”

Eros is known as the son of Aphrodite.

Both are associated with lust (Eros) and love (Aphrodite).

Simply, Eros Syndrome means love sickness.

Eros = lust/love

Syndrome = a persisting sickness

At a first glance, it’s about a goddess consuming love to fuel her powers. She feeds on the obsession of love and on the hunger of lust, on the way someone loses themselves in her light.

But the lyricism carries a second meaning.

Beneath the romantic language are references to addiction, where love itself is treated like a drug, or drugs in a general sense. The dependency, the rush, how you only need to try it more than once before the addiction starts. The high feels divine, but it consumes you the same way any substance would.

Whether the “lover” is a person or something more addictive, the emotional experience is the same. This is the Eros Syndrome.
